This pretty lady is Joey.  She is a stunning African Grey . Please note…Joey is a Special Needs bird who must be monitored closely due to past medical issues.  She MUST see a vet on a regular basis…no question!  Joey has a wide variety of fun sounds ranging from a barking dog, coughing, a zipper, crowing.... and much, much more. She also says, 'I love you Joey,' 'Hello,' 'What,' and some other phrases we have yet to make out. She does take some time to warm up to you but once she does, she will step up nicely. She is a bit clumsy in her cage and does fall from time to time, so a cushiony towel on the bottom does help protect her from injuring herself.  Joey patiently awaits her new forever home.  She is being fostered in Bergenfield, NJ.

Special Needs:

http://www.africangreys.com/articles/nutrition/calcium.htm http://theworldofafricangreys.weebly.com/supplements.html African Greys are prone to hypocalcemia (low blood calcium levels) due to their increased need for the mineral in their system, and the differences in the availability of the mineral from supplements and diet. Regular monitoring of blood calcium levels, in addition to veterinary recommended lab work and dietary discussion, is strongly advised. Prompt veterinary care of unusual symptoms is essential.
