Parakeet - Other : : Female : : Adult : : Small
Hatch Date Approx March 2015 Pickle is a female Parakeet. She is a Gorgeous bright green and yellow and has a spunky little personality for such a tiny little bird! She has been with us for a little over a week now, and has come out of her shell nicely (literally!). She has a coconut shell she enjoys nestling in, but comes out as soon as you come up to her cage or call her (although the first day and a half she was with us, she did hide in there until she was comfortable, but she's doing great now)! She eats a healthy seed and pellet mix, loves her millet treats and loves to vocalize back and forth with my cockatiels during the day. She seems to enjoy the company of other birds around, however, should remain in her own cage due to past aggression issues. She was originally with other parakeets, but had to be removed due to her aggression toward another female parakeet in the cage. We have provided toys to her in her new cage, but she doesn't seem too interested in them as of yet?? We're still trying to figure out what type of toys she's most interested in. I did have a small seed cup of pellets in her cage, which she basically flung all over the cage?? Same with the Grape Nut cereal I attempted to fill it with?? Needless to say, we took that out of the cage for now. She does eat her seed fine though and hops around her cage a lot, preening, chirping and hanging out on her perch. She has been in a cage her whole life, as far as we know. I attempted to put my hand in her cage for her to perch on and/or offer head scratches to her, but she's not too keen on it as of yet. I think with continued work though, she will eventually enjoy head scratches and more human interaction, because she was certainly interested and did not attack my hand at all. Definitely a great contender for someone who has the time to work with her and give her the TLC she needs to become a great bird!
