Poicephalus : : Male : : Senior : : Small
Hatch Date: 1995
Jack can get nippy and since he has a pretty big beak, it hurts. He readily steps up on rope and wood perches and even a gloved hand. He loves to get head scratches and interact, but will sometimes bite while being held. Because of this behavior, Jack will not be adopted out to a home with young kids. He will require an experienced bird owner who knows how to read a bird's body language. Jack is a quiet guy and only makes quiet sounds sometimes. He will quack like a duck. He likes chewing up a seagrass mat on top of his cage when he comes out. He has already gone through a couple of mats. He recently got a play stand positioned right by his cage so he can climb around it, forage and play with toys while outside of his cage. Jack is living in a room with a couple of cockatiels and doesn't seem to mind them. Even when one of the tiels went into his cage. He will also hang out with other birds in the house and has shown no aggression at all to any of the other birds.
Jack is a senior bird. He would do best in a quieter home where he can just hang out and relax with his new family. He is not a strong flyer, which is understandable being he spent years stuck in his cage. He does safely flutter to the floor. Since he can't fly, he will not be adopted out to a home with cats or homes with bird dog breeds.
