Alfie is an approximately 10 year old male cockatiel. He was found outside in August 2018 by his previous owners who could not keep him long term however provided the best care for Alfie. 

When he was found outside last summer he had an upper respitory infection (which has cleared up) and was missing one front claw. Upon vet exam it was noted that he has a slight deformity to one wing however it does not stop him from flying and it is unclear why his front claw is missing. 

Alfie is a very calm older gentleman who prefers the company of other birds over humans. He will only step up if he needs your help (for example if he is on the floor) otherwise is not hand tamed. Alfie will let you take him out of his cage if he is on a perch. He does like to hang out on your shoulder if you are sitting on the couch and loves to have his head scratched. If he can be kept warm after he does love taking showers with you.

Alfie loves looking at himself in a mirror and hearing sounds of other birds.

Won't you give Alfie a calm retirement home?

Alfie is being fostered in Bloomfield, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within easy driving distance to the foster home - we will not ship our birds. As For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes, we do not have a central location. As birds are residing in our volunteer’s homes we only allow approved applicants to meet our adoptable birds.
