Budgie/Budgerigar : : Male : : Young : : Small
Lefty is a male budgie who was found outside in northern NJ. He was so desperate for help he flew to a family having dinner on their back deck. After many attempts to find his original owner we came up empty handed.
When Lefty was found he had trauma to two of his toes on his left foot. After reciving medical attention it is unknown what happened however has made a full recovery (he may never regrow two nails though). Lefty is hand tamed and steps up nicely however loves to fly around. He is unphased by the dogs in his foster home and LOVES the other parakeets in his foster home. Lefty's wings are clipped but he is still a good short distance flyer. Lefty is currently on a seed diet and being transitioned to pellets and dried veggies via homemade birdie bread. His favorite treat is nutriberries. He loves foraging, playing with toys and being sprayed with a light mist. Sylvester is a young male parakeet who had a cage mate until recently. He was looking for a new friend and he and Lefty are new best friends. Sylvester is hand tame, likes sitting on your shoulder and playing with rope toys. Lefty and Sylvester are being fostered in Bloomfield, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within easy driving distance of his foster home. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Philadelpha, we do not have a central location. As our birds are being fostered in our volunteer's homes we only allow approved applicants to make visits. If interested in adopting Lefty please complete an adotpion application on our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org. Special Needs: Healing injury to left foot but has made a full recovery. Unknown if two claws will grow back. Other Pictures of Lefty and Sylvester (click to see larger version):
