Paulie is a 20 year old fully feathered, believed to be male, Congo African Grey. He lived with one family his entire life, but they are older now and can no longer care for him. He shared a home with a Sun Conure and Lovebird.

Paulie is a very sweet boy. He stepped right up for his foster mom from his carrier the day he was brought over. And climbed right up to her shoulder and hung out. He readily steps up from inside his cage. He can be a little hesitant to step up when outside his cage if he is having fun and doesn't want to be disturbed. But he will step up when you say Step Up.

Paulie is a very quiet guy. He does not speak, and his foster mom has only heard him make a couple of beeps.

Paulie loves to play with shreddable toys, especially wood blocks. He has gone through three toys already and has been in his foster home less than a week. He knows how to entertain himself, but is very smart and needs a home that will provide enrichment, lots of time out of his cage and lots of interacting with his family. 

So far, Paulie has been good about staying on a bird stand or on top of his cage. But, this is a new environment for him and he may become more adventurous once he becomes more settled in. Paulie does not fly well, but rather glides to the ground. 

In his previous home, Paulie was fed a lot of table food and nutriberries. His foster mom introduced him to pellets. It took him some time to realize pellets are food, but he has started eating them. He is a good eater of fresh veggies, fruit and grains.

Paulie is being fostered in Hightstown, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within easy driving distance to his foster home; we do not ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout New Jersey and Philadelphia, we have no central location. As our adoptable birds are being cared for in our volunteers’ homes we only allow approved applicants to make visits.
