Lanny and Lydie are a pair of quiet, low key parakeets. They have been matched since 2013 and have never lived with other birds. They are used to a quiet household, but they enjoy music and will sing along to whatever is playing. Unless there's some loud noise or commotion, they pretty much only make noise in the morning when they want to be fed and have the cover removed from their cage.

 

Lanny is yellow and green and is very shy around people (as you can see in this photo). Lydie is white and blue and is less afraid of people, although she will bite if scared. She weighs approximately double her recommended weight, so she will often pull her feathers on her back and bottom, especially in the summer when she's hot. She has seen an avian specialist about this issue and had x-rays, but no problems were discernible except for the weight! Because of this, I am cautious not to overfeed them but they require no other special care.
