About Pancho

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Bird
  • General Color: Green
  • Current Age: 21 Years 4 Months (best estimate)

Hatch Date: 2002

Pancho is an 18 year old, DNA sexed male, Senegal.

Pancho lived in one home his entire life that he shared with other birds.
Pancho's owner passed away and the family needed to rehome all the birds.

Pancho is a skittish little guy.
He will be adopted out to an experienced bird owner with a calm, non-hectic household.
He is hesitant to interact with his foster mom and so far does not step up on a perch or hand while IN  his cage.

Once Pancho is out of the cage, he readily steps up on his foster mom's hand and will hand out on her hand, leg or shoulder.
He has not shown any signs of aggression. He will bite a little if startled.

He will need someone with  patience and persistence.
He will accept and solicit head scratches, and sometimes purrs when you scratch his head.

When Pancho first came to his foster home, he meowed like a cat. Since then he has been pretty quiet, not making many noises other than clicks and a little purring.

Pancho had a wellness visit and his physical examination went well. His body tone, wings and feet are all healthy. He had complete bloodwork done and all is within normal levels Pancho was on an all seed diet previously, and in his foster home is giving him zupreem fruit pellets, nutriberries and avi-cakes. He likes the avicakes and nutriberries, and has started even the pellets. He has eaten some fresh food - grains, veggies, pasta, greens, which is very adventurous of him. He also took right away to foraging.

Pancho's previous cage had one wooden perch and no toys. He is now in a larger cage with multiple perches, a rope boing and shreddable toys. His foster mom is excited that he has already begun playing with his toys.

Pancho seems to be a sweet bird who likes attention, but is hesitant and a little fearful of new people and situations. Pancho needs a family who will have patience with him and build a trusting relationship.

Pancho is being fostered in Hightstown, NJ. If you are interested in adopting Pancho, please complete an adoption application on ftlob.rescuegroups.org. Pancho will require multiple visits prior to being adopted and any potential adopter must live within driving distance and be willing to make multiple visits.
