Rio is a handsome little Male, 4 year old ,Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure .

He was in a single bird home until another bird was introduced, and now struggles with jealousy issues as a result. 

This all started when his human family got a second bird, and then they had a baby. 

Rio couldn’t handle the baby coming and got very aggressive. 

He will have to go to an experienced home that will work with his issues.

He has been known to bite down hard and draw blood when he feels like he’s not getting enough attention.

If he is allowed to sit on shoulders, he has bitten faces .

Now that he is in foster care, and separated from the other bird, we are working on building trust and training.

He does accept the occasional beak rub or foot tickle and can enjoy a nice head rub if he’s in the mood. 

Rio really shouldn’t be allowed on shoulders, until he learns how to behave.

He does well sitting on a perch next to humans where he can feel included without getting overstimulated. 

This is NOT a bird for beginners, or a home with children, and possibly any other pets . 

He needs to be the center of attention at all times.

He is a phenomenal eater who loves all sorts of fresh vegetables and enjoys shredding and eating leafy greens while his foster mom holds them.

He really wants to go back in time to where he was the
king of his castle ;) 

Rio has been disease tested and will be adopted with his cage, toys, perches and food to get his forever home started.

Rio is being fostered in Chester, PA and will only be adopted to a forever home within easy driving distance. 

Multiple visits are required prior to adoption. 

For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated private foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA, we do not have a central location. 

Our adoptable birds are living in our volunteers' homes, so only approved applicants are allowed to meet our adoptable birds.
