Cockatiel : : Male : : Senior : : Small
Hatch Date: Approx 2001 Doc is a 20 year old male cockatiel. He is special needs in that his feet and toes are deformed and arthritic. Given that, he gets around in his hospital cage very well. He kind of hops around. Doc cannot climb and is kept in a cage with a padded bottom and paper towels on top of the blanket. These are changed a few times a day so he stays clean. Doc is taking Tramadol twice a day for pain Doc is very docile. He allows himself to be picked up and held. Sometimes he puts up a little fuss, but does not bite. He chirps very softly. Doc lived with one family his entire life. But they are moving out of the country and cannot take him with them as this would be too stressful on him, if even possible. Doc would be a wonderful companion for someone who is home all of the time, would like company and can care for this special needs bird. Doc is being fostered in Manalapan, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance, we do not ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA - we do not have a central location. As Doc is living in a volunteer's home, we only allow approved applicants to make visits. If interested in adopting Doc please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org to read our adoption policies & procedures and to complete an adoption application.
