Fred is a 3yo male parrotlet. He is a social bird but holds true to a typical parrotlet - being sweet then unpredictably sassy. It takes Fred time to warm up to new people and changes in his enviornment; until then Fred does startle easily so because of these factors plus his small size he will only be adopted to a calm, adult-only household. No exceptions.

Fred loves playing with toys, hanging upside down and splashing in a pet water fountain. He particularly likes to bite holes in his foster mom's tshirts and chew on her smart watch band. Fred is full flighted but is not a very coordinated flyer. Head scratches are the way to Fred's heart.

Fred was previously on an all seed diet and has been transitioned to Harrison's Pellets which he goes nuts for, so much so that he is very territorial over his food dish. He does entertain fresh fruits and vegetables. His favorites are raspberry and cauliflower. 

Fred does NOT like other birds so it is best that he be the only bird in the home. He is not phased by the dogs in his foster home.

Fred has been disease tested and will be adopted with his cage, toys, perches and food to get his forever home started.

Fred is being fostered in Bloomfield, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within easy driving distance. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated private foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA, we do not have a central location. As our adoptable birds are living in our volunteers' homes, only approved applicants are allowed visit.
