About Pinky

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Bird
  • Current Age: 43 Years 2 Months (best estimate)

Hatch Date: 1981

Pinky is a ~40-year-old female Moluccan Cockatoo

She is participating in For the Love of Birds’ Help with Rehoming program. With this program she remains living with her current family while For the Love of Birds networks on his behalf for her next forever home.

From Pinky's family:

Pinky is a loving, cuddling and curious cockatoo. She is in her early 40s and is a vibrant pink with blue accents around her eyes. She is well behaved and loves to snack on pistachios and pasta while you dance around to music.

Pinky favorite toys are wood and cardboard. She loves to tear apart and chip with her beak. She enjoys coming out of her cage but doesn’t stray far her home.

Pinky enjoys getting hugs and giving kisses. She will “click” her beak and flutter her tongue when she’s happy. She is only vocal when something seems out of place and usually just before bedtime, she lets out a goodnight squawk. Pinky will greet you and start to mimic your voice.

She will even bark like a dog, and ring like a telephone. Growing up Pinky would mimic my mother and ask, “Where were you last night”, Pinky will also say “goodnight”.

Pinky is ok with being held but only after she builds her trust with you.  She likes to attach herself to a family member but will love to interact with everyone.

Pinky has been disease tested for PBFD and Chlamydia. Pinky will be adopted with her cage, disease test results, toys and food to get her next home started.

Pinky's current family is in North Brunswich, NJ and will only be adopted to a home within driving distance willing to make multiple visits prior to adoption. We will NOT ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster home throughout NJ and Eastern PA, we have no central location. As our adoptable birds are living in volunteer, or in their family's home, we only allow approved applicants to meet our birds.

If interested in meeting Pinky please review our adoption policies and complete an adoption application on our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org.
