Kiki is a Male Eclectus, approx. 17 years old.

Kiki lives with an older female and is very attached to her, but due to ongoing health issues, she is looking for a good home to place him with.

He is a loving, hand-tame bird unless he is hormonal.
It is most unusual when he bites.
He may even say "sorry" after.
He has a very good vocabulary, but that is not all that he is about, so please KEEP reading. 

We consider him a special needs bird due to typical Eclectus (Ekky ) hormones.
We are looking for someone that is well educated, and experienced with this 
type of behavior, and will know how to help monitor and manage.

Plucking tends to go hand and hand if the hormones increase. 

He is in a home without other birds, dogs, or cats, so we do not know how he will react to them.

He seems to enjoy children, but this is not to say
very young children.
More older more mature children, know how to spot the body language of a bird, knowing when NOT to try and touch it. 

This bird has been pretty much a free roamer in his home, as his owner is retired and is home all the time.

This is not a bird that is going to do well locked in a cage for long periods.

If you work 8 or more hours a day and are looking for a bird that will stay happily in his cage until you get home, this is NOT that bird! 

This bird will NOT be adopted to a home that already has a Female Ekky as increasing his (or her) hormones, is NOT what we are trying to do here. 

Kiki is in our Help With Rehoming program and presently living with his owner in Manchester, NJ 

He will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance, we do not ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA - we do not have a central location.

As Kiki is living in his owner's home, we only allow approved applicants to make visits.
