Cockatiel : : Male : : Senior : : Small
Hatch Date: Paulie - 1995 and George - 2007??? (seems older to foster mom) Paulie (grey) and George (white and light grey) are senior male cockatiels who came from different homes originally, but have now been together for over 10 years and are buddies. They will be adopted out together. These old men are looking for a calm, quiet home to live out their senior years. However, they did seem to enjoy watching Schmigadoon and enjoy listening to a variety of music on YouTube. They both sing beautifully, especially Paulie. Paulie was called Polly in his two previous homes, and has a little bit of an attitude. But wouldn't you if you were referred to as a girl your whole life and were male? The old guys are not aggressive at all, but hadn't been handled much, if at all, so are not used to hands. They don't appear to be afraid of people, but rather seem to like attention and will sing back to you. With time and patience, they may like hanging out with their humans. George is the more daring of the two and has been eating millet from his foster mom's hand. Paulie climbs close by, then changes his mind and runs for safety. Figuratively that is, Paulie is actually slow getting around the cage, but can still climb the bars and prefers sitting on higher perches. Their foster mom keeps a towel under the cage paper since George will fall from time to time while climbing around. Their cage is a little small for spry cockatiels, but is good for these two older men. Paulie and George are being fostered in Manalapan, NJ and will only be adopted to someone that is willing to drive to do the required visits. We will NOT ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster home throughout NJ and Eastern PA, we have no central location. As our adoptable birds are living in volunteer homes, or in their family's home, we only allow approved applicants to meet our birds. If interested in meeting these old men, please review our adoption policies and complete an adoption application on our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org.
