Caique : : Male
If you like high energy acrobatics, monkey business, loud sounds and cleaning up constant messes then Scooter may be the bird for you! Typical to the white bellied caique species, Scooter is a very active, social wild child.
Scooter is a 16yo DNA confirmed male white bellied caique. He has been with one family prior to coming to For the Love of Birds. He quickly warms up to new faces and is fine with both men and women. He loves hopping around, running in circles and "surfing" on fabric or a hand. He is hand tame but also enjoys having alone time on his playstand or top of his cage. Scooter loves fresh chop - apples and peppers are his favorite. Hilariously, as messy as he can be, Scooter does not like the vaccum. Scooter has been around other birds however does not enjoy interacting with them. Unlike most white bellied caiques, Scooter is a big flyer. If you are eating or drinking in front of him, he needs to come check out what you are having. If he is done playing with you he may fly back to his cage or playstand searching for his next adventure. Scooter is not aggressive by any means however he does have a strong beak that he uses to play - remember he is part monkey! As such, it may be interpreted by small hands that he is biting but he is not. It may be best for Scooter to be adopted to a home with teenage children who can understand his strength. Scooter does love to sing - a lot! His beefy vocal chords do get loud so is not a suitable match for apartment or condo dwellers. There is never a dull moment in Scooter's world and we are hoping he will find a forever home who is equally as energetic. Scooter is being fostered in Parsippany, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within easy driving distance. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated private foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA, we do not have a central location. As our adoptable birds are living in our volunteers' homes, only approved applicants are allowed visits. If interested in meeting Scooter please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org to read our adoption policies and to complete an adoption application.
