Taco is a Bee Bee Parrot, aka, a White-winged Parakeet or "Pocket Parrot".
He is about 8 years old, and his gender has NOT been confirmed with DNA.
When Taco's owner died, he went to live with family, but they had long work hours and couldn't give Taco the attention he needed.
Taco is a chatty little guy, but not too loud at all. His regular diet is a healthy "Bountiful Harvest" bird food mix, consisting of dried vegetables, nuts, fruits, herbs and natural pellets. He loves it, but also loves his treats, and is always eager to try new, healthy foods. His favs at the moment are dried pineapple and cashew pieces, and he takes them gently from your fingers.

He is very curious and aware of his surroundings, so he enjoys being near a window. He's not much interested in his bird roommates nearby, but he will chirp excitedly when his people are near.
Taco is not a big flyer, and he's still a bit nervous to come out of the cage on his own. When he's really not in the mood, he'll get nippy, but nothing too painful. With a little push to get him to step up, or if you pick him up gently with your hand and bring him out of his cage, he's very content to ride around on your shoulder or just sit quietly on you, while you watch tv or work at the computer. He steps up selectively in the cage, but reliably outside the cage. He is getting used to the idea of scritches and even enjoys when his foster mom preens his head and back of his neck.

As our adoptable birds are living in volunteer homes, we only allow approved applicants to meet our birds.
