Nikki is a DNA-confirmed Female Congo African Grey. We do not know her exact age, but believe her to be in her 20s. 

Nikki is a very very sweet bird.  She seeks out attention from both people and dogs however sometimes she does bully the resident small dog in her foster home. As such it is preferred Nikki not be adopted to a home with dogs. 
 

Nikki likes coming out of her cage and hanging out.  She will climb out of the cage and onto her play stand.  She also loves cuddling with her foster mom and having her head scratched.
She has not shown any signs of aggression, but being a wild animal, little children should not put their fingers in her cage. 

Nikki is very plucked due to a stressful situation with several large dogs in her previous home.
Her tail feathers and some down feathers are growing in.  However, it is likely the feather follicles on her chest were damaged and the feathers will not grow back. 

Nikki doesn't fly but can flap her way down to the floor or couch.  Her primaries were clipped and she was kept cage bound for quite some time in her prior home. Hopefully with time, exercise and practice, she will be able to improve her flying ability. 

Nikki was examined by an avian vet and had a complete blood work-up done.  Her bloodwork came back all in normal ranges.  Nikki's lower beak protrudes out such that it is aligned with her upper beak.  Her upper beak growth is also stunted and the vet does not believe it will grow out.
Even with this, Nikki can eat pellets, nuts, and fresh foods without a problem.  She also can use her beak to climb around her cage. 

Nikki is being fostered in Manalapan, NJ, and will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance.
