These two cuties are nothing short of a party on a perch! They are a bonded pair, who love each other very much and will be adopted out together.  And good thing for a lucky adopter, because they will bring her/him nonstop enjoyment from their interactions and antics. 

Emerald and Jade are 1 1/2-year-old male/female lovebirds. They are beautiful to look at and very playful with each other, their people and their surroundings. As they are still very young, and they like to test boundaries and explore EVERYTHING with their beaks.  They will fly to visit with you, whereever you are, and will land on your arm, head, or whatever they can reach. It is getting easier to touch them, and they love eating millet from your hands, so the "step up" command is close for them. 

They are curious and mischievous and definitely prefer being out of their cage most everyday, for at least part of the day. They love to sit with you and are learning how to be handled.  They are fearless, are intriqued by dogs, and try to play with them by pulling their hair. For this reason, they will not be adopted out to a home with a dog or cat with prey drive. 

 

The word mischievous is highlighted in the paragraph above, and should not be taken lightly. 

As they are still babies, the world is their playground, including their foster home's belongings.  

Phones, remotes, lamp shades, clothing, silk flowers, picture frames, watch bands, 

paperwork, shoes, jewelry-- they think everything and anything is a toy! 

Emerald and Jade would love to live in a house where they had a bird-safe room so that 

they do not injure themselves or destroy family heirlooms. But regardless, they would do best in a home where they can safely be out of their cage and supervised. 

 

Emerald and Jade are being fostered in Howell,  NJ. 

We do not ship our adoptable birds. 

You must live within driving distance to meet and adopt birds. 

For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA. 

As our adoptable birds are living in volunteer homes, we only allow approved 

adopters to make the required visits.
