Cockatiel : : Female : : Young : : Small
Hatch Date: 2019 Frida is a beautiful, female Cockatiel and is 4 years old. She loves to play with her toys and eat fruity pellets and millet. She has a beautiful chirp. She’s friendly and hand-tamed, a real sweetie. She’s accustomed to a daily routine of morning scritches, nightly millet as a treat, and sleeps with her cage covered by 6:30 PM. Frida likes it when you speak softly to her. She frightens easily with loud noises and will fly around the room if startled. She likes listening to music from the radio, usually soft rock or soft nineties music, and some instrumental. She does fly very well, but she mostly likes to sit on top of her cage when she is out. She has her own small bedroom and feels safer there since she saw the house cat attack her previous cage mate. (Frida actually flew to find her mom in the house and made her aware to help save the other bird. The other bird did survive and the cat mostly lives elsewhere.) Frida is a very resourceful lady. Frida also likes to snack on Nutri-berries from Lafeber's. She's not very interested in eating veggies or fruits, but she loves the fruit blend pellets by Zupreem. She also enjoys "feeding" mom's 2 Boston terriers by dropping her snacks to them. Frida is sometimes stubborn and will let you know if she doesn't like something by hissing. But, with patience and giving her space, she will become curious and come to you. She is definitely a female cockatiel and has already laid her first eggs in September 2023. She has not laid any more since. As you can see in the photos, she is a funny and very smart cockatiel. She's also very considerate and rarely poops on you. She doesn't bite and will shy away if you reach into her cage. Her mom will leave her cage door open for a bit and wait for her to come towards the cage door. Then she will offer her finger and say, "Up up". When it's time to go back in, just refill her millet and let her step up on your finger to go in. It's much easier if it's near 5pm or later. Also, she has learned to allow for neck scritches when mom rubs her thumb and pointer fingers together. Frida has only known one home and one female guardian. With patience and much love she will adore another new guardian.
Her current guardian works all day and she needs someone who can give her more attention during the day. She does spend time outside of her cage mostly on weekends or for short periods during the week.
Frida had a buddy, but sadly, her older cockatiel cage-mate recently passed away. Her mom thinks she misses the interaction with another bird and would love another feathered friend. Frida is participating in our Help With Rehoming program. She is still living with her guardian in Boyertown, PA, and will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance.
We will not ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated
