Cleo is a female Peach-faced Lovebird with endless energy. She chirps, hops, flies, swings and nibbles on a loop all day long. She loves daily baths in the sink with a soft stream of water, a shallow bowl, and time to play. She enjoys millet treats and a daily diet of pellets and seeds. Her favorite toys are wood perches, swings, bells, and natural fiber/rope.
She is a confirmed female, as she previously laid eggs, and she has a voracious appetite to nest . For that reason, nesting materials are absent from her enclosure at her foster home and should remain so after adoption. We do not want to promote hormonal behaviors.
During free flight time, she seeks out soft clothing pockets to burrow in or a high ledge on which to perch and sing.
Cleo has moved homes several times in recent years. Cleo was surrendered to FTLOB by a loving caregiver who took her in from an anonymous surrender at an animal shelter. Cleo would do well with a patient bird parent who understands bird behavior and is committed to daily training and engagement. Cleo formed a sweet and loving bond with her recent caretaker of two years, enjoying cheek and head scritches, fresh foods, and lots of free flight time.
Her foster parent is working with her to build trust, stop going under clothing, and start following basic commands. While she is joyfully vocal throughout the day, she is quiet when covered at night. She is currently fostered with another bird of another species and may do well in a home with another bird(s).
Cleo is being fostered in Maplewood, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance. We will NOT ship our birds. At least two visits will be required prior to adopting Cleo.
For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA. We do not have a central location. As our adoptable birds are living in volunteers’ homes, or in their family's
homes, we only allow approved applicants to meet our birds.
