Meet Cory, a fully-flighted, 4-year-old Green Cheek Conure.
We believe he is a male but has not been DNA tested. While Cory is fine entertaining himself in his house, he prefers to be out hanging on top of his cage or exploring his surroundings - he tends to fly to and land on the other birds’ cages, therefore he should be supervised while out. The foster mom asks him to “step up” so he can be returned, which he does, but Cory uses that as a launching point for more fly-bys before returning home. If someone is lying on the couch and he’s still out, be prepared for a visit and an exploration of your feet! In a situation where Cory needs to be safely inside but doesn’t want to go, his foster Mom bribes him by placing NutriBerries or walnuts in his treat bowl or on his flat perch. Cory likes to have conversations with the other birds in the home, and can get vocal if/when he wants to be out or is just trying to answer a louder bird - however, the conversations are short and he quiets down after a few minutes. Since being in foster care, he gets covered at night and is okay with that.
So far Cory hasn’t shown a preference toward male or female - seeming to like his foster parents equally. He’s on a healthy pellet diet and his favorite treats are NutriBerries and walnuts, so far ignoring fruits and other types of nuts.
