Amazon : : Female : : Senior : : Large
Hatch Date: told 1994 Kiwi is a Yellow Naped Amazon. Kiwi is a DNA confirmed Female. She is not clipped but has not flown since living with her current family. She will climb down from her cage to the floor and walk around. She will also walk throughout the house into different rooms, as long as the male in the house is not there when she turns the corner. She likes to sit on her perch on the side of her cage and will let you know she wants to come out of her cage by saying "out". She is in the room with a French Lop bunny which she is not aggressive towards.
Kiwi is on a diet of pellets and seeds and loves pistachios or peanuts as a treat. Her favorite toys are anything made of wood blocks. She doesn't touch the other types of toys in her cage. Kiwi is trained to step up in a wood dowel.
Kiwi says a couple of words and phrases, and will ask "What are you doing?, I don't know". When she gets excited, she will make some excited noises and fluff up. She came from a house with dogs and will occasionally make a subdued barking sound and sometimes sound like a laser. Most of the time she is quiet though. Kiwi will cuddle with her mom on the couch and loves to be scratched on the head.
Kiwi has been disease tested for psittacosis and PBFD. Kiwi is participating in our Help With Rehoming program and is living in Parlin, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance. We will not ship our birds.
For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA. We do not have a central location. Kiwi is living in a private home; we only allow approved applicants to make visits. Kiwi will require 3 visits prior to adoption. If interested in adopting Kiwi, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org to read our adoption policies & procedures and to complete an adoption application.
