Leta is a Crimson Bellied Conure. Leta has lived with the same family since coming home from the bird store, but they are no longer able to give her the time and attention she so desperately wants. Leta will frequently come to her cage door, asking to be let out. She will willingly step up to come out of her cage, and she will eat fresh fruit out of my hand. Although Leta is usually friendly, she does bite if she goes on someone’s shoulder or gets nervous. Leta has been a quiet bird so far, I haven’t heard more than a few sounds out of her. When she is ready to go to sleep, she crawls in her little hut, waiting for you to notice and cover her cage. With Leta, watching her body language seems to be important, and I wouldn’t recommend younger children handling her. So far she has done best in calm circumstances without sudden movements or startling noises when she is being held. If she is out of her cage and scared, she will easily step up on a pencil for you to take her back to her cage. She will make the right person a wonderful loving companion.
