Lovebird : : Male : : Senior
Vertigo is a 20 year old, male peach faced lovebird with traditional, vibrant coloring's. He was a breeder bird and once he did not want to mate anymore he was surrendered. Vertigo was once hand tamed however has not been worked with for some years. He is not afraid of hands, just prefers to hang out with his favorite toy: a bell chandelier. He formerly preferred his foster dad over his foster mom however was easily won over when his foster mom offered him millet. He loves being talked to and gets so excited when the other birds in his foster home come visit him. Vertigo has been on a seed diet his entire life however since being introduced to Zupreem he prefers that over seeds! His favorite treat is millet and goes nuts for it :) Appreciating Vertigo being a senior guy, he has been experiencing lameness in his left foot and finds it more comfortable to walk on his tarsus. His foster family modified his cage giving him flat perches and wide ladders which Vertigo enjoys and are feeding him in shallow bowls on the bottom of his cage. Vertigo has no issues with flying. Lovebirds have a life expectancy of up to 25 years so Vertigo still has plenty of love to give! Vertigo is a low maintenance bird who would love to live out his senior years in a loving home, preferably with someone who is home often or has other birds to keep him company. Vertigo is being fostered in Bloomfield, NJ and will only be adopted to a forever home within easy driving distance to his foster home; we do not ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout New Jersey and Philadelphia, we have no central location. As our adoptable birds are being cared for in our volunteers’ homes we only allow approved applicants to make visits. If interested in adopting Vertigo please complete an adoption application on our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org. Special Needs: possible neurological issue causing left digits to not open. walks on tarsus Other Pictures of Vertigo (click to see larger version):
