Hatch date: 2008
Very Sweet 14-year-old, confirmed female, Congo African Grey.
As you can see in the photos, she has feather-destructive behavior.
This is something she has been dealing with for many years.
Dander seemed to be an issue at the last home she was in, and
they
were unable to get over allergies caused by it.
She is hand and perch trained and seems to prefer
working with women, but has no
aggression towards anyone else.
She is very vocal, and not a quiet bird ;)
Talks a bit, and loves to make all sorts of cool noises.
Not ideal for a work-from-home situation, as she will not
be quiet for you when
you are on the phone ;)
She needs to constantly have toys to destroy and
does a great job tearing them
to shreds, lol
It will cost money to keep her happy ;)
We are hoping this will keep her from continuing to over preen herself.
She loves to eat, bathe, and be out of the cage.
She is what we would call a creepy crawler.
If left on her cage unsupervised, she will climb down and
start
to explore the house.
We find if she is placed on a bird stand - she will stay put for a while ;)
Very interested in everything going on around her,
very interactive, and very sweet.
She is ok with other birds in the home, with no real interest in them.
She likes to look at them and will imitate their whistles (Cockatiels)
and other noises (other birds)
Not afraid of dogs either.
Polly is being fostered in Leonardo, NJ, and will only be adopted
to a forever home within driving distance.
We will NOT ship our birds.
For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout
NJ and Eastern PA - we do not have a central location.
Polly is living in a private home, and we will only allow approved
applicants to make visits.
