About Kumo

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Bird
  • General Color: Gray

Hatch Date: Unknown

Kumo is a Congo African Grey parrot. Sex and age are unknown. Kumo is believed to be female, but would need to be DNA sexed to be certain. She has lived happily with her now owner for 12 years.

She does pluck her feathers and will bite when feeling nervous, otherwise is an active and healthy bird all her life.

Kumo is a shy bird and needs someone who will be patient with her to gain her trust. Once you earn her trust, she is the sweetest bird.

She is hand tamed and is a good whistler, She can imitate many sounds, learns quickly, and says a few words.

She stays on her cage when let out. She doesnt mind dogs. She may be scared of small kids who can be loud and move quickly.

Kumo is a vegetarian and has multigrain bread in the morning and Zupreem pellets for the dinner. She has a good appetite and is eager to try every kind of food. She likes eggs, tofu, apples, grapes, cooked vegetables, and uncooked/cooked pasta and rice. She surely likes nuts as a treat especially unsalted baked walnuta, almonds, and pecans.

Kumo is out of the cage after breakfast and dinner to be carried around the house and stretch her wings for about 1 hr each time. She is put to bed around 10 pm with her cage covered and she wakes up at around 8 am.

Kumo loves head scratches (she lets you know when she tilts her head) and likes all the attention from her human friends. She will probably do best in a one-bird family and ideally with the primary caregiver home most of the time.

Kumo has been disease tested for PBFD and Chlamydia with negative results and will be adopted out with her current enclosure, toys and food to get her forever home started.

Kumo lives in Mount Arlington, NJ and is participating in our Help With Rehoming program. She will only be adopted to someone that is willing to drive to do the required visits. We will NOT ship our birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster home throughout NJ and Eastern PA, we have no central location. As our adoptable birds are living in volunteer homes, or in their family's home, we only allow approved applicants to meet our birds.

If interested in meeting Kumo, please review our adoption policies and complete an adoption application on our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org.
