Jora is a 12-year-old female pineapple conure. Photos are attached below — she's a real beauty!! She lived her entire life with the same woman, who got her from a pet store when she was only a few months old. That woman is moving out of the country and unfortunately cannot bring Jora with her. Even after only a few days of fostering, it's clear that Jora was well-loved and well-socialized. She is very trusting and was almost immediately willing to hang out on our shoulders, snuggle with us, and receive scritches. She will give a few warning bits if she wants some personal space or you're doing something she doesn't like, but I haven't seen any real hostility or aggression from her.  Like all conures, she has a loud voice! Particularly if she's in her bird cage and she knows you're around, she will call out because she wants to be with you. She is fully flighted and will also fly to you if you leave the birdcage open. Her former owner spoke Russian and told us that Jora speaks Russian, but I'm not sure if I can recognize it if she does :) In any case, she's a very smart, curious, and sweet bird. 

 

Jora was on a mostly-seed diet from what I can gather, so we are starting to introduce pellets for more nutrition. Some of her other likes are cottage cheese, buttermilk, and pine nuts as treats (all in moderation!).

Jora has been disease tested and will be adopted with her cage, toys, petches, enrichments and food to get her forever home started. 

Jara is being fostered in Philadelphia, PA and will require a minimum of two in-person visits before adoption; we do not ship our adoptable birds. For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA. 
As our adoptable birds are living in volunteer homes, we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits.
